Preamble
The
anticipated term of the contract is September 14, 2009 through June 30, 2010.
The contract will be for 1548 hours. The hours will be distributed through the
contracted period.
This
contract is for an Oracle Database Administrator to assist the Client in
migrating Oracle 9.2.0.8 databases running on a HP Tru64 Unix operating system
to Oracle 11g databases running on a Windows 2008, 64-bit operating system.
Experience
Minimum Qualifications
The
contractor must possess the following skills and experience

A minimum of five years installing,
configuring, tuning, and supporting Oracle databases on Microsoft Windows
servers. Two of the five years must include installing and configuring Oracle
Fail Safe and Microsoft Clustering Services. |

A minimum of two years configuring, tuning,
and supporting Oracle 10g databases. |
 |
A minimum of two years configuring and
supporting Oracle databases using the Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).

Must be able to work independently with
little or no supervision. |
 |
Must have good oral and written communication
skills. |
 |
Must have strong analytical skills.

Scope of Work Summary
Contract Purpose and
Description
The
contractor will provide the Client with consulting services for a Oracle
Database Administrator to assist the Client in migrating Oracle 9.2.0.8
databases running on a HP Tru64 Unix operating system to Oracle 11g databases
running on a Windows 2008, 64-bit operating system.
There are
three separate database environments – development, test, and production. The
test and production environments for the Windows 2008 platform will include a
two-node cluster using Microsoft Clustering Services and Oracle Fail Safe
running in an active/active configuration.
Contractors Responsibilities
The
Contractor will work under the direction of the Client Information Technology
staff. The Contractor is expected to work approximately 24-30 hours per week for
the length of the contract. Work outside normal business hours may be required.
The Client and the Contractor will agree upon the specific days and hours to be
worked. All work by the Contractor must be completed onsite at the Client's
Sacramento office.
The contractor will train and/or assist the
Client's technical staff in:

Assisting in the planning and configuration
of the new Windows servers and storage area network (SAN). |

Assisting in the installation and
configuration of Oracle 11g and Oracle Fail Safe. |
 |
Developing a migration plan for upgrading
each database from Oracle 9i to Oracle 11g. |
 |
Assisting in the implementation of the
database migration plans in all three environments. |
 |
Assisting in tuning SQL and PL/SQL.

 |
Monitoring and make recommendations to
optimize database performance. |
 |
Designing, implementing, and testing a backup
and recovery plan for the databases. |
 |
Developing scripts to automate routine
database administration functions. |
 |
Providing technical assistance for the
existing Oracle 9i databases in the absence of the Client's Oracle database
administer. |
 |
Assisting in applying the quarterly Oracle
Critical Patches for the Oracle 9i and Oracle 11g databases. |
 |
Analyzing and resolve operational problems
identified by the end users. |
 |
Developing technical documentation for the
new Oracle 11g environment. |
 |
Providing knowledge transfer to Client's IT
staff. |
 |
